Favorites VS. Intimates

Abraham was God's friend. You can be God's friend, too. God desires that you trust Him, so He has proven Himself trustworthy. He desires that you love Him and shows you how by loving you first. You are capable of the great union of friendship with God. Will you put your trust in Him? Will you love Him? Will you be His friend?

James 2:21-23

Abraham worked to free the ram from the thicket. The beautiful animal was a poignant reminder of God's gracious provision. He whispered a prayer of thankfulness for the sacrifice provided in Isaac's place (Genesis 22).

Abraham obeyed God when instructed to leave his home to become a great nation in a new land. He believed God's promise that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky. He also honored God's command which entailed putting his so, Isaac, on the altar. In every instance God proved loving, kind and trustworthy.

James 2:23 teaches that "Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness, ' and he was called the friend of God."

Jeremy Tayior had this definition: "By friendship you mean the greatest love, the greatest usefulness, the most open communication, the noblest sufferings, the severest truth, the heartiest counsel, and the greatest union of minds of which brave men and women are capable."
