If you have been trying to get a regular Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID) or a traditional SSS ID lately, you might have noticed that SSS branches are no longer issuing them. Instead, the Social Security System has rolled out its newest, highly secure, functional ID: the MySSS Card. Launched as the modern replacement for the traditional UMID card, the MySSS Card comes with an EMV chip and doubles as an ATM debit card linked directly to an SSS partner bank account. This means your future SSS loans, benefits, and pensions will go straight into this card.
Pre-requisites: What You Need Before Applying To avoid system errors or immediate rejections, make sure you meet the following baseline criteria: Permanent SSS Number Your membership status must be tagged as "permanent" with at least one posted contribution. Active My.SSS Portal Account You will need to log in to the official member portal to start the process. Updated SSS Records Ensure your local address, mobile number, and email address are up to date in the SSS database. National ID (PhilSys) Registered The MySSS Card system integrates directly with the National ID eVerify system. Your photo, digital signature, and biometrics will be lifted straight from your National ID database—meaning no more long lines for biometric capturing at the SSS branch! Before you apply, double-check that your Full Name and Date of Birth match exactly across both your SSS records and your National ID records. Any discrepancy will put your application on hold. Step 1: The My.SSS Member Portal Application The application is a seamless, two-part digital process. The first phase happens entirely inside your SSS online account.
Step 2: Setting Up Your Partner Bank Account Once SSS approves your data transfer, the ball is in the partner bank's court to create your actual disbursement and savings account.
Step 3: Card Production and Delivery Once your bank account is successfully established, the bank will handle the creation and distribution of your physical MySSS Card. You don't need to keep checking back blindly; the bank will send you an SMS notification or app alert when your card is ready. Expected Processing Times:
Depending on the bank's operational framework, you will either be prompted to pick up the card at your designated home branch or have it delivered directly to your registered permanent address. Quick FAQs Can I have multiple MySSS Cards? No. You can only apply for one MySSS Card with one partner bank at a time. If you eventually want to switch banks, you will have to formally close your current card-linked account first. Can I still use my old UMID card? Yes. If you have an existing traditional UMID card or a UMID-ATM card, it remains valid for SSS transactions. However, shifting to the MySSS Card or upgrading your existing UMID via the portal ensures you are aligned with the newest automated verification systems. What happens to my previously enrolled bank accounts (DAEM)? Once your MySSS Card is activated, it automatically becomes your primary default disbursement account. Any older accounts you enrolled in the Disbursement Account Enrollment Module (DAEM) will remain saved in the system but will take a backseat to your new card.
