SEC Warns Against Fraudsters Impersonating Prominent Personalities through Deep Fake Posts or Videos5/3/2025 Scammers or fraudsters are now leveraging the reputation of well-known, high-profile businessmen or reputable corporations to lure unsuspecting individuals into investing their hard-earned money into fraudulent schemes. The public is warned that in today’s digital age, one of the most alarming tactics employed by groups or person/persons is the use of DEEP FAKE TECHNOLOGY, which allows them to create fake images, videos, and even voices of legitimate business owners, CEOs of public figures. These scammers manipulate the public perception by falsely claiming affiliation with reputable companies or presenting themselves as the actual owner of these entities. The DEEP FAKES are often so convincing that it becomes difficult to ordinary persons to distinguish between legitimate content and fraudulent material or activities.
The public is advised to be highly vigilant and cautious when making investment decisions. The rise of digital technology has made it easier for scammers to fabricate highly realistic information, making it harder for the public to distinguish between legitimate opportunities and fraudulent schemes. Always check with the Securities and Exchange Commission, before making any financial commitment. It is always advisable to take the time to research, ask questions, and consult trusted sources before committing money with any entity, especially one that promises quick and large returns with little risk. Equip yourself with the proper information about investment regulations, scams and how to recognize red flags. Always be proactive and reach out to the Securities and Exchange Commission. Additionally, consider becoming a part of the Anti-Scam and Illegal Taking of Investment Group (ASTIG) to stay informed about ongoing fraudulent activities and to contribute to a larger community effort to combat scams. By taking these precautions, you not only protect your personal finances but also contribute to creating a safer, more informed investment environment for everyone.
