SEC Partners with NU-Lipa to Promote Financial Literacy

​The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Lipa Extension Office (EO) has teamed up with the National University Lipa Campus (NU Lipa) to promote financial literacy and improve awareness of the company registration process to students and budding entrepreneurs.

In a ceremony on March 12, the SEC Lipa EO signed a memorandum of agreement with NU Lipa, formally welcoming the university into the SEC Capital Market Promotion and Awareness Inter-Agency Network (Campaign Network).

The SEC Campaign Network forms part of SEC Communication, Advocacy, Network (SEC CAN!), the Commission’s flagship investor education program that aims to secure partnerships with public and private organizations to expand the reach of its financial literacy initiatives.

“This collaboration is a momentous step toward strengthening financial literacy, promoting capital formation, and enhancing incorporation awareness among students, aspiring entrepreneurs, and the local business community,” SEC Lipa EO Director EretzIsrel B. Valle said.

Through the partnership, the SEC Lipa EO and NU Lipa will collaborate in the development, production, and promotion of promotional materials that will highlight topics on the fundamentals of investing, financial literacy, investor protection, and investment scams.

Such materials can be disseminated in the programs, trainings, or seminars that will be developed by the parties.

“With this collaboration, we envision a series of impactful initiatives, including financial literacy seminars, business registration workshops, and interactive learning sessions designed to inspire and educate the youth about the importance of responsible entrepreneurship and investment,” Mr. Valle said.

The partnership with NU Lipa marks the SEC Lipa EO’s first since it was opened in December 2024. Since 2020, the SEC has forged a total of 236 partnerships under the SEC Campaign Network, 198 of which are from the Commission’s extension offices across the country.
