The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) warns the public against phishing scams through phone calls, texts, emails, or messaging apps by individuals or groups claiming to be from the agency. These individuals or groups phish for personal information, including bank and mobile wallet details, by calling, introducing themselves as employees of the PSA, and offering help in replacing the National ID. In other instances, some initiate video calls.
The PSA would like to emphasize that these activities are NOT AUTHORIZED by the agency. The PSA does not provide National ID replacement services through mobile phone calls, video calls, or by sending emails containing suspicious links to download the eGovPH app. Further, the services of the PSA related to the National ID are provided on-site during office hours, as it requires verification of the identity of those requesting the service. The eGovPH app is exclusively available for download from the official Google Play Store (for Android devices) and Apple App Store (for iOS devices). Downloading the app from unofficial sources and suspicious links can pose security risks and increase vulnerability to fraud. PSA strongly advise the public to remain vigilant and immediately report such incidents to the official channels of the National ID: (1) Facebook at PSAPhilSysOfficial; (2) email via [email protected]; or (3) Hotline 1388 (Fees apply).
