PSA: 56M National ID Authentications; Largest Use Cases in Social Protection, Financial Inclusion9/30/2025 The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) recorded over 56 million authentications through the National ID Authentication Services (NIDAS), highlighting the growing number of Filipinos using their National IDs. As of 17 September 2025, a total of 56,520,952 authentications were recorded from National ID-integrated systems across government, social protection, private, and financial sectors.
PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General considers this milestone as a reflection of the agency’s efforts in the continued implementation of the National ID system, in support of the call of the government towards digitalization. “We are now achieving a central goal of the National ID - easier transactions through reliable identity verification using a valid proof of identity. Now with over 56 million authentications through the National ID, we see that our vision has turned into reality,” said Usec. Mapa. “It is our hope that this paints an encouraging picture for those who remain in doubt of the capabilities of the National ID in providing secure, streamlined access to services and transactions for Filipinos,” he added. For National ID-integrated government agencies and local government units (LGUs), the delivery of services improved with better targeting of beneficiaries and more streamlined processes. As of 17 September 2025, the PSA has already facilitated the onboarding and use of the NIDAS of 87 relying parties from various sectors. National ID for Social Protection The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) utilized the National ID to clean its National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) or Listahanan, an information management system that identifies who and where the poor are nationwide. This helped remove duplicates or ghost beneficiaries to ensure that social protection benefits are granted to rightful recipients. Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries were also offered National ID registration and authentication services during Family Development Sessions (FDS). Likewise, the recent integration of National ID with Pasig City’s PasigPass is set to help protect against identity fraud, strengthen data security, and provide verified information on Pasigueños to enhance the way financial assistance and other social services are provided. In the municipalities of Tublay and Tuba in Benguet, and the City of Maasin in Southern Leyte, processing requests for civil registry documents such as birth, marriage, and death certificates have become more secure and streamlined through the National ID authentication services. Not only does it ensure that the recipient of said documents are actual requesters or authorized persons, it also eliminates manual record checking and encoding of a client’s personal information. Financial inclusion through the National ID For National ID-integrated financial institutions, opening bank or mobile wallet accounts became more accessible as the client onboarding process became faster, leading to greater financial inclusion. “I think mas faster [kasi] 2 to 3 days ang usual approval process namin. With the National ID, 1 day lang kami so faster ‘yung approval niya,” said Asia United Bank (AUB) Chief Compliance Officer Laidy Claire dela Rosa on the timeline of account applications for their mobile wallet service, HelloMoney. Moreover, the GCash also noted speed as an advantage in verifying identities through the National ID. “A couple of benefits [in utilizing the National ID authentication services]—one is speed. Because the integration is real-time, it allows for us to approve customer applications real-time as well,” said G-Xchange Inc. Vice President for Customer Experience Joanne Avendano. “Second, it allows us to process as many applications as we can everyday without worrying about the operations bandwidth that we have,” she added. Assistant Secretary Rosalinda P. Bautista, Deputy National Statistician of the PhilSys Registry Office, called on more institutions to onboard with the National ID. “We encourage relying parties who have yet to integrate with the National ID to integrate using the National ID eVerify and be part of a Makabagong Pilipinas where transactions are more seamless, streamlined, and secure through the National ID,” Asec. Bautista said.
