Insurance Industry Reinforces Critical Role in Protecting Filipino Families and Businesses in 20252/17/2026 Year-end data from the Insurance Commission shows that the life insurance industry paid out P121.88 billion in benefits, while the non-life insurance industry paid out P34.05 billion, underscoring the industry's growing importance as a financial safety net amid economic uncertainties. This strong payout performance coincided with continued industry expansion. Total Insurance Premiums rose by 14.10%, increasing from P440.53 billion in 2024 to P502.64 billion in 2025, surpassing the half-trillion-peso mark. The life insurance sector accounted for 80.22% of Total Premiums, while the non-life sector and mutual benefit associations (MBAs) contributed 16.41% and 3.37%, respectively, continuing the upward trend observed since 2023.
Key market indications showed improved access to insurance and increased demand for insurance protection. Insurance penetration reached 1.79%, while insurance density climbed to P4, 414.58, the first time it has exceeded P4, 000 in the past decade. The industry's growing capacity to meet policyholder needs was supported by stronger balance sheets. Total Assets rose by 7.93%, from P2.47 trillion in 2024 to P2.66 trillion in 2025, while Total Invested Assets increased by 8.01%, from P2.21 trillion in 2024 to P2.38 trillion in 2025. Despite the increase in Total Liabilities and Total Benefits Payments/Losses by 7.54% and 2.37%, respectively, the industry's Total Net Income still grew by 15.10%, reaching P64.79 billion. This financial resilience further strengthens confidence that insurers can continue supporting beneficiaries when they need it most. Backed by effective regulation and strong collaboration across the sector, the insurance industry is poised to sustain its growth and expand its contribution to both economic development and the protection of lives, properties, and livelihoods of the Filipino people in the years ahead.
