The Philippine Stock Exchange, Inc. (PSE) received reports of a Facebook group falsely represented as belonging to PSE. The said group uses the name “PHILIPPINES STOCK EXCHANGE” and embeds PSE’s corporate logo in its investment solicitation announcements. They also use a banner from the Exchange’s corporate website for its cover photo. The fraudulent Facebook group is soliciting investments through four (4) programs: Elite, Deluxe, Prime, and Friday Best. Depending on program type, an investor may invest P400.00 to P50,000.00 for a prescribed lock up period of seven (7) to 30 days to get supposed guaranteed returns ranging from 55 to 80 percent.
Further, one of the persons managing the Facebook page falsely claims to be the CEO/ Founder of PSE. The public is advised that PSE’s official Facebook and other social media accounts DO NOT solicit investments and that any investment solicitation advertisement that is supposedly sponsored by PSE DID NOT come from, is NOT authorized and is disclaimed by the Exchange. The PSE also reiterates that all legitimate stock transactions are done through PSE-accredited trading participants or stock brokerage firms. PSE and any of its officers, employees and agents, do not undertake stock transactions on behalf of clients. The complete list of the accredited stock brokerage firms of the Exchange is available in the PSE website (www.pse.com.ph) under Trading > Trading Participants. The Exchange encourages the public to exercise extreme caution and vigilance in dealing with companies or individuals soliciting stock investments, especially those which promise guaranteed returns or income. Investment scams usually involve promises of big payouts, quick money or guaranteed returns and do not contain disclosures on the risks of investing. The public may contact the PSE to verify the legitimacy of stock investment schemes and the authenticity of documents that are supposedly issued by the Exchange. PSE highly encourage the public to report these fraudulent schemes to Facebook, other social media platforms where these schemes may be located and to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. The PSE’s contact details are +632 8876-4888 and [email protected].
