An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.
Beware of scammers that pretend to be from LTO! The Land Transportation Office (LTO) warns motorists of new online scams that impersonate the agency via traffic violation notifications. Clicking the link in the message will lead you to a phishing site that will capture your personal and financial information. Clicking and providing bank credentials can compromise your account. Stay vigilant against scam messages that pretend to be from LTO or other government agencies to trigger panic and deceive recipients.
The same text message contains a link to the alleged LTO website, and once all the details have been input on the fake websites, the selection of payment option would redirect the user to a counterfeit login page, which is designed to steal the user's information. According to the Land Transportation Office (LTO), they will coordinate with the Philippine National Police (PNP) in running after online scammers who are using the agency in its illegal money-making scheme, as it warned all its clients to be wary of the modus operandi of the scammers. The public is advised to directly communicate with the LTO office if they receive such text messages for proper action and to ensure that they will not be victimized.
