Beware of Impostors: BSP Warns Public Against Scammers Using Officials' and Employees' Names9/15/2026 The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) warns the public against fraudulent schemes involving individuals falsely representing themselves as BSP officials or employees. Scammers impersonating BSP officials and employees may send electronic messages instructing prospective victims to deposit money into a bank or other financial account. This would supposedly facilitate the release, recovery, or restoration of funds. In some cases, scammers may present bogus BSP identification cards bearing the name and photograph of a BSP official or employee, together with a forged signature.
The BSP clarifies that the identification cards used in these fraudulent schemes are fake and spurious. Mobile numbers, e-mail addresses, and other contact details used by these scammers are likewise not authorized contact details of the BSP or its officials and employees. The BSP emphasizes that its officials and employees do not solicit or collect funds or payments from the public for the release, recovery, or restoration of funds. Likewise, legitimate financial institutions, including their officers and personnel, do not send unsolicited text messages or e-mails, or make unsolicited calls, instructing the members of the public to deposit or transfer funds to personal financial accounts. The public is strongly advised not to send money, transfer funds, or disclose personal account, or other financial information in response to such communications. Members of the public should also refrain from clicking suspicious links or downloading attachments from unknown or unverified sources. The BSP urges the public to exercise caution and independently verify the authenticity of any message, call, document, identification card, or other communication claiming to originate from the BSP or any of its officials and employees through the following channels:
