Beware of Fake PSE Accounts on Messaging Apps

The Philippine Stock Exchange, Inc. (“PSE” or “Exchange”) received information that its name, logo, and original social media content are being used by unscrupulous individuals in fraudulent investment solicitations circulating on instant messaging platforms such as Telegram and WhatsApp. 

Scammers have also been assuming the identities of current and former PSE director and officers, as well as other capital market professionals to deceive individuals into investing or transferring funds to their get-rich-quick investment schemes. 

Here are some reminders to protect the public from scammers:

• PSE does not own or manage any Telegram or WhatsApp account.
• PSE’s official social media accounts are utilized for information purposes only.
• PSE employees or officers do not solicit investments, whether through instant messaging apps, social media platforms or otherwise.
• Stock market trading is done through PSE-accredited trading participants (TP) or stock brokerage firms.
• Futures contracts are not among the investment products currently available in PSE.
• Do not deposit funds intended for investments to a personal bank or e-wallet account. Payments for legitimate stock transactions are usually done through official, corporate bank accounts. For TPs that are partners of e-wallet companies, the transaction is done within the e-wallet app. 
• Before investing, contact PSE or related government entities to verify if the investment instrument is legitimate.
• Do not entertain investment solicitations that guarantee and promise high returns. 

PSE disclaims any obligation or liability for decisions made or action taken based on fraudulent communications that use the PSE’s name and logo. 

The Exchange strongly advises individuals to be cautious and verify the legitimacy of any information or requests that claim affiliation with PSE. Always cross-reference the provided contact information (address, email, phone number) with the official contact information published by the organization itself.

Immediately inform PSE if you encounter suspicious solicitations on messaging platforms and have reason to believe that you are being defrauded with potential stock market investment scams.
